HOW TO REMOVE COOKIES FROM YOUR COMPUTER

One might be wondering what computer cookies are especially when it comes to internet and browsing stuff. It is noteworthy and important to know what this stuff means and how best to do with when visiting different sites here and there. For the benefit of my friends who had asked and still asking and also for those that don’t know, especially “internet-newbie”, I will like to write about cookies in this post you are about to read. To start with, what do we mean by computer cookies?

Really, cookie is an online computer file containing user information; it is a computer file containing information about a user that is sent to the central computer with each request. The server uses this information to customize data sent back to the user and to log the user's requests. Cookie is a short line of text that a web site puts on your computer’s hard-disk when you log on to a site. To brighten it more, it is a flat text file that supports client-server communication and helps in session management and tracking. With the help of the cookies, a website can keep track of the user’s browsing session. Computer cookies are simply bits of software placed on your computer when you browse through websites or when you are surfing the internet. Actually, nearly all the big and giant websites make use of cookies.

These so called websites use cookies so they can track what you are viewing, reading, downloading, uploading, transacting and more. The site will recognize your computer when you come back to visit again because of this wonderful tool we are talking about.

There is nothing in this world that doesn’t have its good and the other side of it. The same goes for computer cookies. Let us analyze this. Have you ever wonder that whenever you visit one website and return to that particular website next time, you will not need to put your password again? Yeah! That is cookies for you! The reason for this is not far-fetched, your password and identification have been stored in a cookie! Places on the internet like Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and so many sites mostly use cookies to track the activities of their visitors. Some of the online stores also use cookies to track the basic information about their visitors.

Again, just as I mentioned earlier, there is one thing negative about cookies especially in my own view. I do hope you too can reason with me over this. The issue has to do with the privacy. How can your password and id will just be tracked like that without really requesting for it? This is a one million Dollar question! With the help of
cookies, your id and password are “hanging” somewhere! Imagine that! For me I like total privacy when it comes to the internet, hope you too will do the same.

If you don’t really want your password and id to be retain on the website after logging out, the best thing you can do whenever you want to visit and after visiting a site is by clearing or removing all the cookies on your browser. For the purpose of this tutorial, I am going to talk briefly about one of this so called browser we use for surfing. That is Mozilla Firefox. Take for instance, if your browse is Mozilla Firefox, you can kindly follow these steps

Open Mozilla Firefox by double clicking on it. After it opens, click on:

-Tools
-Option
-Privacy

Just take a look at this image here below:

the same you will see with your Mozilla Firefox browser. Then, you will see information like this ” clear your recent history or remove individual cookie” as you can see here, click on remove individual cookies, then you will see something like this image here:

Then, click on Remove All Cookies. That is all! For the rest of the browser like Chrome, Safari, internet Explorer etc, what you need to do is by going to the setting/preference/option as the case may be to remove the cookies and retain your privacy. Hope this will help you.
