In computing, hibernation is
a situation when all your open files, programs, applications and folders are
still alive, intact and on when your computer is turned off. This mean that you
don’t need to worry of losing any unsaved work you are doing because you will
find all your opened files the way they are when you turn-on your computer again
if you hibernate it and not shut down
earlier before. I have written a post on hibernation in the past, if you still
like to read more about hibernation, you can click HERE TO READ MORE ON IT.
Today, what I wish to share
with you is how to enable hibernation in windows 8. If you are a windows 8 user
and you just newly buy your laptop, you will notice that hibernation is not enabled
or shown in shut down menu at the desktop. This is rather confusing and
worrisome because such doesn’t occur in windows 7 as hibernation shows in shut
down option. Through my careful look at computer-manufacturers especially DELL,
I see that this wonderful tool is not enable in windows 8! Now, how can we
enable hibernation in windows 8?
You can
enable hibernation in windows 8 by doing these:
-GO TO CONTROL PANEL
-THEN LOCATE POWER OPTIONS
-CLICK ON “CHANGE WHAT THE
POWER BUTTONS DO”
Then, you will see this image
below:
From the image you
are
seeing here, you will notice you are seeing SHUT DOWN SETTINGS below it.
That is where we are going. Though, the shut down setting will not be activated/turned-on
if you don’t make any changes to any of the power button options up here. Thus,
try to make a change to the way power button behaves to give way for shutting
down setting to be enabled. Then, tick/mark hibernation as one of the shut down
settings down in the image as you are seeing it up here, then click SAVE
CHANGES. That is it. To confirm this change, go to any part of your computer to
initiate a shut down, you will definitely see hibernation as one of the options
there.
